I LOVE trying out new products, especially new skin care products. It’s a blessing and a curse. If my full time job was a product tester I’d be living a dream.
I’ve struggled with problematic skin since my early teen years. It can be and has been so frustrating. I have oily and acne prone skin. My pores are on the larger side and I struggle with texture. This is an equation for a skincare nightmare!
I have always been the girl who incessantly washes her face every morning and night; the girl that uses toners, creams, treatments, masks, serums, oils, you name it I’ve tried it. Some products have been great and some have been terrible. It’s been a game of trial and error for sure.
I’m going to show you guys what has been working for me lately. My skin is still far from perfect but it’s definitely better than it has been.
Nighttime Skincare Routine
I’ve been trying out the Erno Laszlo Detoxifying Double Cleanse the last few weeks and I’m really loving it! The Detoxifying Cleansing Oil breaks down and removes makeup so well and the Detoxifying Cleansing Bar leaves your skin feeling clean but not stripped! That’s super important for me because my skin gets so much worse if I overdo it with harsh and drying products.
After I remove my makeup and cleanse my skin I follow up with a toner. This is a must for me to remove any leftover cleanser I might have have missed. Lately I’ve been using the Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion. It isn’t a bad toner but I also don’t love it and probably won’t repurchase. My favorite go to toners are the Michael Todd toners. I love them all! They work great and they’re pretty affordable for good skincare (make sure you use a coupon code if you order from them).
I love serums and oils. There was a time that I was so scared to use these on my face. It just didn’t make sense in my mind to put oil and serums on oily skin, right?! Well I finally got over that fear and I really think this step is what has really helped my skin. The Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil is what I’ve been using. It truly does make my skin look radiant and brighter the next day but if I had to pick a holy grail serum that is totally worth the investment it would have to be the iS Clinical Active Serum. It is magic in a bottle. PS I know that oils and serums are different but I generally try to use one or the other so I don’t overdo it.
Once my oil or serum has had time to absorb I follow up with my all time favorite nighttime moisturizer, the Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream. This stuff gives my skin life! It is so hydrating and it doesn’t clog my pores or cause breakouts. It smells ah-maz-ing too!
It’s a great day if I don’t have to spot treat but it doesn’t happen very often. My ride or die spot treatment is the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. This stuff works like a charm. I apply this as soon as feel a breakout coming on and I swear you can tell a difference the next morning.
Ya’ll this is such a necessary step to prevent aging. My under eye area is super sensitive so I have to be really careful what I use. A lot of eye creams irritate my under eyes. I’ve been using the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream for years and still love it just as much now as I did then. It hydrates without being too heavy. You need it in your skincare regimen.
My lips are notorious for being really dry so I religiously apply lip balm. I’ve tried so many different treatments and my favorite is still the Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter. This stuff works just as good, if not better, than every single expensive lip treatment that I’ve tried. I swear by this stuff.
What are your go to skincare products? What skincare lines are you favorite?
*I received Erno Laszlo complimentary, but all opinions are my own*
